HOW TO MAKE A SOLAR BOTTLE BULB

What is a bottle bulb?

A 2 liter plastic bottle, a pinch of Bleaching powder and unobstructed roof is all one requires to make a Sustainable and Free Bottle Bulb.

This apparatus works on the simple principle of Refraction and can produce light up to 60 W bulb on a bright sunny day – FREE OF COST for at least a year (Maximum 5 years) after which you have to replace the water. (Original idea generated and successfully implemented by MIT in Indonesia)

Application:

In rural houses where it is dark inside and no electricity. This apparatus needs to be fitted on that part of roof which receives maximum sunlight.

How to make a solar bottle bulb

It is a simple bottle bulb, usually a 1 or 2 liter soda bottle that is filled with a solution of purified water and bleach. The bottle is inserted halfway through a hole drilled in the metal roof and its sides are sealed. The whole deal looks like a bulb through a sunroof and provides a good amount of light by deflecting sunlight into gloomy interiors.
The chlorine and bleach “poisons” the water to keep molds from developing so the solution can last up to five years. The clear and purified water helps disperse the light through refraction, so the light is not concentrated.
