Backing up your text messages from your Android phone to your Gmail account is so simple. You can use your Gmail account as an SMS vault. Even if you want you can restore your all text messages back in to your android phone from Gmail account.

To do this you will need three things:

SMS Backup+ requires IMAP access to your Gmail account to function. Login to your Gmail account and navigate to Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Check Enable IMAP. Scroll down and click Save Changes. That’s the only configuration you’ll need to do within your Gmail account.

Installing and Configuring SMS Backup+
  • Go to Google play Store on your Android phone download the App SMS Backup+

  • Now launch the App and Tap Connect to set up the connection to your Gmail account as shown below,

  • Your Gmail account name will be shown on the next screen. Tap on your account as shown below,

  • In next screen you will be asked access to your Google account, press on Allow access as shown below,

  • Now the next pop up screen will be like as below, click on Backup. All your SMS will be backup to your Gmail account. You can also tap the option Auto backup to back up your SMS as per schedule settings made in Auto backup settings.
